The Welding Institute (IZV) has been founded mid last century, as a scientific and educational institution. In the course of half a century it has been transformed in an institution that bases its objectives above all on cooperation with machining* industry (nisam siguran za ovo, mozda bi bilo bolje reci mechanical industry). With Slovenija entering EU and turning of export base economy to demanding markets of Germany, France, Italy, Austria…it was necessary to adapt to new laws, standards, directives and regulations. As member of EWF (European federation for Welding) and IIW (International Institute for Welding) IZV has used its position and adequately responded to the needs of Slovenian firms* (firms jesu firme, ali bi mozda bolje bilo reci companies, meni to bolje zvuci!) to raise production quality, and by doing that, level of competitiveness on West markets.
That is how Slovenia, thanks to IZV has become one of the leading European countries by the number of welding coordinators EWE/EWT (Engineers and Technologists) based on the population and steel consumption. The only two schools for welders in Slovenia are based in IZV. The first one is in Ljubljana, and the second one in Maribor. The annual average is 2.000 certified welders. In IZV is of the two Slovenian schools for NDT personnel. Annually in our school is trained more than 100 participants for NDT. Besides that, IZV has implemented quality system in welding production in accordance with EN ISO 3834 in 150 Slovenian firms*. Through our laboratories we perform qualification of welding procedures, destructive testing and non-destructive testing, inspection of welding apparatus, counseling, solving of technological problems, welding supervision, dedicated seminars for industry employees. For all of the mentioned activities IZV has the corresponding accreditations, authorizations and notifications by the European institutions.
European commission has named IZV as notified body for the area of pressure equipment (PED) according to directive 2014/68 EU, as well as approving of production of welding construction according to EN 1090-1 according to regulation 305/2011. Active cooperation with industry demands constant advancement of existing knowledge as well as acquiring new one. With that goal, IZV has developed extensive cooperation with scientific research institutes, as well as with technical colleges all over the world. IZV with this institutions primarily cooperates through international multidisciplinary research and development projects, and transmission projects and the development of innovations.
In April 2014. IZV has opened its branch in Belgrade. Considering that Serbia is making big steps to enter EU, we are confident that we can share our knowledge and experience with partners on the market of this part of Europe.
Let us grow up together!
